EAST SILESIA POSTMARKS (B.338)
Postmarks of the SO 1920 Plebiscite, by Oldřich Tovačovský et al, translation by Robert Kingsley of four articles that were serialised in Merkur Revue (2010).One of the smallest of the 1920s Plebiscite territories, entire covers are somewhat elusive, but the stamps used here were the large Czech Hradcany issue (overprinted "SO"), so readable postmarks are relatively frequent and the stamps are mainly quite affordable as so far they have not been studied as much as the main former-German territories. However, some small localities command a premium, as do the coupe of railway t.p.o. cancels of this area. The main article is a detailed study of the postmarks and usage in the Těšín, Orava and Spíš areas; other articles cover the TPOs, and the six offices that were briefly Czech in August 1920. Czech Society publication #22. ISBN 978-0-9553682-0-2. Fully illustrated, with colour throughout, 72 pages.
